State Department Waiver of Visa Interview Policy
Important News for International Students

The U.S. State Department has announced a temporary waiver of the visa interview requirement for certain students and scholars who are seeking to extend their stay in the United States under the STEM OPT program.
This waiver applies to F-1 students who are currently in the U.S. and have already obtained their first 12 months of OPT, as well as J-1 scholars who are currently in the U.S. and have already obtained a 12-month extension of their program.
To report your STEM OPT extension to the State Department, you will need to log into Compass in the STEM Reporting section.
