Helicopter Carrying Iranian President Raisi Crashes in Northwest Iran
President Raisi Was Among 16 Passengers on Board

BREAKING: A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and several other officials crashed in the northwest of Iran on Sunday, according to Iranian state media. The Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with Iran's Revolutionary Guards, reported that the helicopter went down while traveling back from East Azerbaijan province.
Officials said 16 people were on board the helicopter, including Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and several security personnel. Rescue operations are currently underway to locate survivors and determine the fate of the passengers.
Raisi, 63, has been President of Iran since 2021. He is also a top contender to succeed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
