Gatherings, ceremonies, memorials, and other events are planned for 9/11
Wednesday is the 21st anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. The terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 people and forever changed the United States.
Communities across the country will hold gatherings to remember the victims and honor the first responders who risked their lives to save others. In metro Atlanta, several events are planned.
Metro Atlanta 9/11 events
Here are some of the events planned in metro Atlanta to commemorate the 9/11 attacks:
- 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Truist Park
This event will take place at Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves. Participants will climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center to honor the firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11.

This ceremony will take place at the Georgia 9/11 Memorial in Sandy Springs. The ceremony will include remarks from local officials and first responders.

This service will take place at the Cobb County Firefighters Association in Marietta. The service will include a reading of the names of the victims of the 9/11 attacks and a moment of silence.
